Dear Husky Families,
It’s hard to believe that we have already completed our first month of school! The halls of Stony Brook have been filled with learning, laughter, new friendships, and so many wonderful moments. As we reflect on these first few weeks, we could not be more proud of our students and the way they have transitioned back into the routines and expectations of school.
Our Huskies have demonstrated our core values each day—showing kindness, respect, perseverance, and a willingness to learn and grow. Whether they are in the classroom, on the playground, in the cafeteria, or walking through the halls, our students are showing what it means to be a member of the Husky family. We are so proud of the positive choices they are making and the way they are supporting one another. We are always on the lookout for the next Hall of Famers, so please keep up the good work.
Students also have access to their own nomination form for the Hall of Fame. It was emailed to each student. Our students need to take their time and share enough information to allow us to know why they think their nominee deserves to be recognized.
There is also so much happening beyond the classroom! Our clubs are officially underway, giving students opportunities to explore interests, try new things, and connect with others. We are especially excited to see our students showcase their talents during our drama performance at the end of October. We look forward to celebrating all of their hard work and dedication!
Speaking of October, we are also looking forward to the Stony Brook Halloween Parade on October 30 at 2:30pm! More information will follow soon regarding parking and where parents can stand to watch. If you are planning on taking your student home immediately following the parade, please enter this as an early dismissal in Genesis as soon as possible. We can’t wait to see our students enjoying this special day together and celebrating with their classmates and teachers.
As we continue into the school year, please know that our partnership with families is incredibly important to us. If you ever have a question, concern, or something you would like to discuss, please do not hesitate to reach out. Open communication helps us ensure that every child and family feels supported and connected to our school community.
Thank you for helping make the start of this school year such a positive one. We are excited for all that is still ahead and look forward to continuing this journey together!
With Husky pride,
Kristen Kries
