Principal’s Message

We were so fortunate to have our student musicians play this week at our school and family concerts on Tuesday.  A huge thank you to Mrs. Bontomase and Mrs. Maroon for preparing our students for a wonderful evening of music. 

Our 5th grade students completed two days of NJSLA Science testing this week.  Testing will continue next week for both 4th and 5th graders.  There will be two reading sessions on Tuesday, the 4th and one writing session on Thursday, the 7th.  Please be sure your student has a good night's sleep and breakfast as well as a charged chromebook. 

SBS Visual Voices Art Show, featuring the work of our creative students, is coming up on May 12th.  The show will be held in our Gymnasium by our amazing art teacher, Mrs. Rueger and open to families from 5:30-7pm.  Please see information on this flyer.

Our annual Memorial Day Commemoration is 23 this year!  This wonderful event will take place on Friday, May 22nd. If your student would like to bring an honored guest to this celebration, please use the Google Form that is located in this letter of information from our Memorial Day Chairperson, Ms. Manger.  SBS will also be participating in a service-learning project, a collection for Hope for Veterans, as we have in past years, and create personalized messages to Veterans.

Congratulations to Ms. Kirkpatrick, 5th grade teacher, who was recognized as the SBS Spotlight Employee for the month of April.

Daily Snack(s) We need your help with packing daily snacks. We have emergency snacks in the office for when a student occasionally forgets their snack, but we are quickly running out of those emergency snacks at this time. Please be sure to pack a snack or two for your student each day that they can enjoy during snack time. Thank you.

Parent Drop Off and Pick Up I need your help! Once you have dropped your student off, please exit the line so that we can keep all cars moving and get our students in the school as efficiently as possible. Once the buses have exited the front parking lot, cars can pull into the front lot, but must park parallel along the sidewalk. Please DO NOT pull up facing the building. Cars can pull up toward the front entrance, let their student exit on the sidewalk, and then pull forward and out. We have seen far too many close calls with potential accidents recently. Thank you very much for your assistance.
