Principal’s Message

Dear Stony Brook Families,

Our Spring Choir Concert was this Tuesday. Our singers performed for their families on Tuesday evening, and for the whole school on Wednesday morning. The Earth Day-themed concert was great! Thank you to Mrs. Maroon for preparing our singers for this spring's performance.

Ms. Rueger was celebrated at a banquet on Tuesday for being recognized as a Teacher Who Makes Magic! Staff members from all three schools were recognized. It was a lovely event.

Today is the LAST day for yearbook sales!  The cost is $20, and the flyer and ordering link can be found here.

Thank you to the PTO for an amazing Me and Mine Dance last Friday. It was so great to see our students attend the dance with a special adult. The PTO put a lot of work into this very fun event! Thank you to all those who attended, and we look forward to continuing this event in the future.

Mr. Gottshalk planned a Logic Day event that all students participated in today. Each homeroom was split into two groups and worked together to complete logic activities. It was a great day where students shared their different ways of thinking, strategies to work together as a group and support for each other.

Below are the 4th and 5th grade winners.

Ms. Kelly also planned an activity to celebrate Earth Day on Thursday. Each student planted a Marigold seed in a biodegradable container.  Students learned which materials were biodegradable and why items like this are good for our environment. Students brought home their seeds in a brown paper bag to be planted in the ground or in a pot.  We would love to see photos as your seeds start to grow.

Many of our staff members had their family members visit Stony Brook for Take Your Child to Work Day. It is always a great day when our families get to see the work we do each day. I hope every student who attended work with a family member enjoyed their experience and learned something new.

Next week our 5th graders will have NJSLA testing for Science.  Please make sure your student brings their charged chromebook to school!

Have a wonderful weekend!

School Reminders

Daily Snack(s) We need your help with packing daily snacks. We have emergency snacks in the office for when a student occasionally forgets their snack, but we are quickly running out of those emergency snacks at this time. Please be sure to pack a snack or two for your student each day that they can enjoy during snack time. Thank you.

Parent Drop Off and Pick Up I need your help! Once you have dropped your student off, please exit the line so that we can keep all cars moving and get our students in the school as efficiently as possible. Once the buses have exited the front parking lot, cars can pull into the front lot, but must park parallel along the sidewalk. Please DO NOT pull up facing the building. Cars can pull up toward the front entrance, let their student exit on the sidewalk, and then pull forward and out. We have seen far too many close calls with potential accidents recently. Thank you very much for your assistance.

Dismissal Changes Please be sure to share changes to dismissal information with both your student’s homeroom teacher and SBSoffice@branchburg.k12.nj.us. This ensures that all students are dismissed correctly and allows us to ensure student safety.

Spirit Day Every Friday is Spirit Day!  Please have your child wear spiritwear or school colors - blue and white!
Free and Reduced Lunch Applications

A friendly reminder, the free/reduced lunch application must be re-submitted each year and does not automatically renew. A copy of the application can be found on our district website at: https://www.branchburg.k12.nj.us/student-lunch-forms

Sneakers

Sneakers are needed each day for recess.  My recommendation is for our students to wear sneakers every day. If they choose to wear other footwear, please be sure that they bring a pair of sneakers with them to school each day. Alternate activities will be used for students who do not have the correct shoes on.

PTO & BEF

Please support our amazing PTO (Branchburg PTO) and BEF.  With their support, we can accomplish amazing things at Stony Brook. Please visit our website via this link for the latest updates from the BEF on their efforts to support our district.

The PTO’s spiritwear sale is on-going and is another opportunity to help support them.
