Principal’s Message

Dear Stony Brook Families,

Thank you to the PTO for an amazing Book Fair this week. There is nothing quite like the excitement of our students visiting the Book Fair. Thank you to all the parents who came in to assist our students while they shopped.

Student Voice is Important:

This week, some of our students sat down with management from Maschio's to share their feedback about the breakfast and lunch program. Students were able to volunteer to be a part of the committee, and then a lottery was held to determine who would participate. The students did an excellent job sharing their thoughts and ideas. I was impressed by how they included how their friends might feel about these choices as well.

A group of students and teachers participate in a classroom activity.

This is just one way our students are sharing their voices with our school community.

We opened up the Student form for our Husky Hall of Fame nominations. We have almost 70 responses so far.

Parent voice is another important part of our school-to-home connection. Stay tuned for more information on the Dec. 1st Pack Chat.

SBS will be participating in the Scholastic Great Bedtime Pajama Drive.  We will be collecting brand new pj’s for all seasons.  PJ’s should also be full sets and can range in size from 3T to adult large. The collection will run through December 2nd. For more information, please see this flyer.

The Math Olympiads contest is a challenging 5-part mathematics competition that includes students from all over the world. There are five 30-minute sessions, one per month, from November-March. A love of complex math questions is the only requirement to participate. Any Stony Brook student who is interested in entering the competition should see Mr. Gottshalk.

We are having a Chef Day on Tuesday, November 18.  Chef Mike Jasinski from Maschio’s will be onsite to prepare and serve a flatbread bar. This flyer has more information..

Have a nice weekend!
School Reminders

Sneakers

Sneakers are needed each day for recess.  My recommendation is for our students to wear sneakers every day. If they choose to wear other footwear, please be sure that they bring a pair of sneakers with them to school each day. Alternate activities will be used for students who do not have the correct shoes on.

Dismissal Changes Please be sure to share changes to dismissal information with both your student’s homeroom teacher and SBSoffice@branchburg.k12.nj.us. This ensures that all students are dismissed correctly and allows us to ensure student safety.

We are participating in a service learning project this year, Hope for Veterans, collecting personal care items. This collection will conclude on November 10th. Please see this flyer for full details.

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications

A friendly reminder, the free/reduced lunch application must be re-submitted each year and does not automatically renew. A copy of the application can be found on our district website at: https://www.branchburg.k12.nj.us/student-lunch-forms
