Principal’s Message

Dear Stony Brook Families,

We are off to a great start! It was wonderful welcoming our students to SBS this week. It was fun to hear about summer adventures, see old friends reconnecting and new friendships form.  Our students have shared how tired they are after two days, so I wish all of our students and their families time to rest and recharge this weekend ahead of a full week next week.

We had our first whole school meeting on Thursday where we welcomed new staff, celebrated students who were Whiton All-Stars and Husky Hall of Famers. We also talked about how our 5th graders serve as role models. As a school, we reviewed our core values and I reminded our students that a reminder of this important part of our school community is visible in every doorway.

Respect for ourselves, others and our school guides all the decisions we make at Stony Brook. We will use this conversation when talking to students and

Important reminders:

Sneakers are needed each day for recess.  My recommendation is for our students to wear sneakers every day. If they choose to wear other footwear, please be sure that they bring a pair of sneakers with them to school each day. Alternate activities will be used for students who do not have the correct shoes on.

Monday the district is holding a virtual forum regarding the upcoming referendum vote. Please join us to learn about the proposed projects. More information can be found at the referendum website.

Tuesday is Back to School Night. Please see the schedule of how this evening will run. Parents can choose from two sessions to meet with homeroom teachers, as well as our special area teachers from 6:30-7:30. Immediately after, I will ask all families to meet me in the cafegymatorium to share some important information. I look forward to sharing some of what makes Stony Brook a great place to learn.

Please be sure to share changes to dismissal information with both your student’s homeroom teacher and SBSoffice@branchburg.k12.nj.us. This ensures that all students are dismissed correctly and allows us to ensure student safety.
