Counseling Services

Schoolwide and Classroom Programs

  • Character Counts!- schoolwide character education lessons and activities that support students’ emotional, social, and academic growth.

  • Week of Respect

  • Red Ribbon Week activities

  • Leadership Council

  • Special needs that arise throughout the year

 

Small Group Programs

There are a variety of groups that are offered. Students can ask to join groups or also be referred by parents or teachers. Small groups are held during lunchtime or RTI time.  Groups typically run for 6-8 weeks and are formed based on specific needs such as:

 

  • Friendship Groups- target a variety of social skills such as making and keeping friends, conversation skills, confidence building activities, and making new connections with classmates.

  • Newcomers- students who are new to the Branchburg School District are invited to join this group once school begins to learn about Stony Brook and make connections with other students!

  • Changing Families- for students adjusting to family changes such as separation, divorce, or remarriage

  • Groups formed as needs arise such as academic/organizational skills, stressbusters group, book clubs, etc.

 

Individual Counseling

  • Students may request a conference with Mrs. Gallo at any time.  Parent and teacher referrals are welcomed and encouraged. Please do not hesitate to reach out by phone or email if you would like to discuss concerns regarding your child.

  • Issues commonly dealt with include academics, behavioral , social, school adjustment, family situations, crisis intervention.
