Kick Off For Character Week

Stony Brook Celebrates Kick Off For Character Week
Kick Off For Character WeekThe beginning of a new school year is the perfect time to highlight Stony Brook’s commitment to a positive and inclusive school climate. As part of this initiative, all students are scheduled once a cycle to attend a G.E.L. (Guidance, Enrichment, Leadership) lesson with Mrs. Gallo, Mrs. Burke, & Mrs. Mastroserio.

So, to start things off, from September 22-29, students will participate in our annual Kick Off for Character. Along with wearing the colors that represent the Pillars of Character on each of the days listed below, students will participate in a food drive to benefit the Somerset County Food Bank. All students are invited to bring in food/or non-food items that correspond with the colors (food or label color—ex. Can of green beans for green or a box of Minute Rice for red) at any time throughout the week. Collection boxes for each Pillar will be in the lobby.

In addition, from October 2-6 students will participate in New Jersey’s statewide initiative, the Week of Respect. All “SBS” lessons during that week will focus on accepting differences and celebrating our commitment to a bully-free environment.
