Another Successful Jump Rope for Heart!

Jump Rope for Heart Surpasses the Quarter Million Mark!
2018 marks Branchburg’s 19th year partnering with the American Heart Association and the Jump Rope for Heart program.

From 2000 to 2011 both Stony Brook and Old York Schools participated in the program. Since 2012, when the upper elementary schools were consolidated, we continued the Jump Rope for Heart partnership here at Stony Brook. Jump Rope for Heart provides materials and resources to help our students better understand the benefits of being active and helping others. During Physical Education classes students learn a wide variety of individual and partner jump rope skills. The cardiovascular benefits of jumping rope as well as the exposure to a fun, lifelong activity become the focus of the unit. Students are provided the opportunity to collaborate with classmates and develop a routine that highlights the skills they have acquired. While the students are participating in activities to benefit their own hearts, they are also challenged to raise money to help individuals suffering from a variety of heart conditions.

Many families in our community display tremendous selflessness and empathy when it comes to community service programs. I think it is important to recognize the extreme generosity of Branchburg Township and reveal that the total funds raised over the last 19 years for the American Heart Association surpassed the Quarter Million mark this year, totaling $252,673!!! #Bravobburg
