Principal’s Message
Dear Stony Brook Families,
I hope everyone had a great week.
Thank you to all the parents and families who came to support the Science Fair this week. The projects were interesting and gave us a glimpse into the different interests our students have. Thank you to Ms. Hill for all her hard work in planning, organizing, and facilitating this annual event.

Our next Pack Chat is scheduled for 2/23 at 1 pm. We will be discussing school transitions. Please fill out this link if you plan on joining us. Thank you!
At this point in the year, it is a good idea to review school expectations. As the excitement of spring and warmer weather comes, I am asking all families to review the Husky Handbook. A Google slide version of the handbook can be found here. Students who adhere to these guidelines demonstrate daily their understanding of our core values. In order for our school community to be comfortable for all members, we need these ideals to remain a priority. Thank you for your support with this as we head into the remainder of the year.
5th grade families, as a reminder, please complete thispermission form for the upcoming Organ Roadshow. The Roadshow will be on Friday, Feb. 27th from 10am-12pm.
Thank you very much to the families who have dropped off extra snack to SBS. We appreciate your kindness.
Have a nice weekend!

*If you have any gently used children's sweatpants, sizes 10-16, please consider donating them to SBS to support students who may get dirty during recess or lunch. Donations help ensure students can stay comfortable and continue their day without disruption. Please also be sure to pack a snack or two for your student each day that they can enjoy during snack time. Thank you for your support!

Daily Snack(s) We need your help with packing daily snacks. We have emergency snacks in the office for when a student occasionally forgets their snack, but we are quickly running out of those emergency snacks at this time. Please be sure to pack a snack or two for your student each day that they can enjoy during snack time. Thank you.
Parent Drop Off and Pick Up I need your help! Once you have dropped your student off, please exit the line so that we can keep all cars moving and get our students in the school as efficiently as possible. Once the buses have exited the front parking lot, cars can pull into the front lot, but must park parallel along the sidewalk. Please DO NOT pull up facing the building. Cars can pull up toward the front entrance, let their student exit on the sidewalk, and then pull forward and out. We have seen far too many close calls with potential accidents recently. Thank you very much for your assistance.
Dismissal Changes Please be sure to share changes to dismissal information with both your student’s homeroom teacher and SBSoffice@branchburg.k12.nj.us. This ensures that all students are dismissed correctly and allows us to ensure student safety. Recess As the weather turns colder, please be sure to send your student in with warm clothes. We hope to get our students outside as much as possible even in the cooler weather. Spirit Day Every Friday is Spirit Day! Please have your child wear spiritwear or school colors - blue and white! Free and Reduced Lunch ApplicationsA friendly reminder, the free/reduced lunch application must be re-submitted each year and does not automatically renew. A copy of the application can be found on our district website at: https://www.branchburg.k12.nj.us/student-lunch-forms
The Math Olympiads contest is a challenging 5-part mathematics competition that includes students from all over the world. There are five 30-minute sessions, one per month, from November-March. A love of complex math questions is the only requirement to participate. Any Stony Brook student who is interested in entering the competition should see Mr. Gottshalk.

Sneakers
Sneakers are needed each day for recess. My recommendation is for our students to wear sneakers every day. If they choose to wear other footwear, please be sure that they bring a pair of sneakers with them to school each day. Alternate activities will be used for students who do not have the correct shoes on.
